The people of New Orleans owe a special thanks to all the French, Spanish, Italian, African and German cooks who unknowingly contributed to a new gourmet “Cookery N’Orleans Style.”
New Orleans is a virtual “melting pot” of all of these cultures and this book of recipes reflects just that. Although New Orleans restaurants and chefs are world renowned, it is often said among locals that the best cooks in New Orleans are right in the homes!
This is what makes this cookbook so very special. It is a family’s collection of favorite recipes from friends and other family members, blended with some cherished memories of a New Orleans upbringing.
Its unique format devotes each chapter to a particular side of the family, highlighting their special styles of cooking along with stories of where their recipes originated and how they came to be family favorites.
Each chapter is highlighted by original watercolor prints of famous New Orleans and Louisiana landmarks and scenery, beautifully created by local, award-winning artist Ms. Dale Barattini.
